Start ShoppingI've enjoyed the WiiM Ultra Music Streamer more than just about any tech device I've acquired in the past few years. I love streaming music and the device is a great 'all in one' solution that looks great *and* delivers great audio. My only issue with the product has always been the remote. The included remote is functional but doesn't look like it belongs to a premium product like the Ultra Music Streamer. It looks like a generic black plastic remote that you'd get with any TV.With the WiiM Voice Remote 2 the problem is solved! First of all, the Remote 2 looks great. It's made of sleek silver metal (it's actually bushed aluminum) and has a very stylish minimalist design. It feels great in the hand like you'd expect a quality remote to feel. It allows you to use voice control on your device without the need of a smart device. There's also four preset buttons that allow you to immediately access playlists, channels, custom volume/EQ settings, etc. Another upgrade is the USB-C charging. I don't know how long a charge lasts but I've charged it up once and it just keeps working. It's amazing what a big difference a remote can make to the enjoyment of the overall product. Highly recommended!
The Wiim Voice Remote 2 is an excellent improvement over the original voice remote. Starting with the build quality, the housing is made out of metal compared to the plastic build on the OG, the buttons are stiffer, shallower and have a satisfying click to them while its predecessor has rubber, mushy buttons. The main improvement in my opinion is the rechargeable battery, ditching the triple A batteries needed for the previous model. The remote comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable for charging purposes. My original voice remote gave me a lot of issues with connectivity (which could be a one of situation) but the Voice 2 was extremely easy to pair to my Wiim Ultra and was up and running in less than 30 seconds. To conclude, if you are a person who prefers to use the Wiim app instead of the remote this $40 upgrade is not for you. But, if you do use the remote and are not a fan of the build quality, you’d prefer rechargeable batteries over triple A, you’ve had connectivity issues or like the apple-esque aesthetic this is a great option.
This thing is very nice. It's made out of machined aluminum so it's very elegant looking. Charges via USB-C no worry about batteries. Sleeker and slimmer than the original because you don't have to load it with batteries. While it feels nice and heavy it's not heavier than the old unit when the old units packed with batteries. Works my Wiim ultra flawlessly. In the pictures the silver is the new one the black is the old.
As a music geek with a WiiM system this remote does it all! The voice control works great (no Alexa needed), and the four presets are awesome. I use mine to launch playlists, EQ settings, and even for when I am in my jazz mood. It’s made of solid aluminum, is USB-C rechargeable, and the 360 degree Bluetooth range lets me control tunes from anywhere. No more line-of-sight struggles. If you own a WiiM system this remote completes it- %Stars!
While the WiiM Ultra comes with a black remote, I ordered this WiiM Voice Remote 2 for two reasons. First, the remote comes with an internal rechargeable battery. Secondly, this remote has a nice premium build with an aluminum exterior that matches closely to the body found on my silver WiiM Ultra. Everything about this remote screams premium. The remote paired easily with my Wiim Ultra. I'm not sure if this is true for all, but I found I needed to unpair my original remote before I could pair this remote. There are only two negatives about this remote. First, because it is slimmer and "edgier" than the basic black remote not everyone is going to think the WiiM Voice Remote 2 feels better in the hand than the remote that comes with the WiiM ultra. Secondly, while the remote comes with a USB-C cable to charge the remote it doesn't come with a power block. Despite the negatives, I really like the look and feel of this new remote and recommend it for those that prefer the design, build, and look. Plus no more unfriendly to the environment disposable batteries! Rechargeable remotes are just so much easier to maintain. Keep up the good work WiiM!
